Reuters reported that Kindred Group had received an acquisition offer from La Francaise des Jeus (FDJ), the national lottery operator company in France, which was once a state-owned company owned by the French government.
According to The Wall Street Journal, FDJ submitted an acquisition offer worth US$ 2.5 billion or around Rp. 39 trillion in cash. FDJ will control all Kindred Group shares.
FDJ is currently actively making acquisitions throughout Europe. Previously, FDJ also annexed Ireland’s national lottery operator, namely Premier Lotteries Ireland, in a deal worth US$ 381.4 million (Rp. 6 trillion).
Kindred is an online gambling company that operates worldwide. The company has 30 million users across 9 different brands in Europe, North America and Australia.
However, last year Kindred decided to cease the company’s operations in North America. Kindred’s platform activities in North America will close in the second quarter of 2024. Along with the closure plan, the company will carry out PHP for its 300 employees.
Kindred Group’s well-known brands include 32Red, which was the main sponsor of the English football club, Aston Villa, and decorated advertising boards at EPL matches. Then, there is also Unibet.
